2017 Bridesmaid Gift Picks

If you’ve enlisted the help of some of your closest friends or family as your bridesmaids, a gift is a nice way of saying Thank You. It certainly is not mandatory, but it’s a great way to express your gratitude for their efforts and support towards planning your big day.

We recommend gifting at a time that you are all together. Your rehearsal dinner or the morning of your wedding are great options, especially if there is a photographer on-site to capture the moment. There is no right or wrong time to give a bridesmaid gift, so feel free to gift at a time that feels right to you!

We also understand that trying to find unique gift ideas can be hard. Odds are, each bridesmaid has their own unique style and personality. Something Blue

Far beyond the hustle of the city, lies a place where time stands still…Cambium Farms. The crisp fresh air, the warmth of the carriage house, and the natural hues of blues bring forth a peaceful serenity. A beautiful harvest of florals fills the barn and brings in a breath of fresh air. A place where you will find something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue…

We loved collaborating with Rachel A. Clingen to design a rustic farmhouse inspired shoot for Elegant Wedding Magazine. Cambium Farms provided us with the perfect backdrop for our vision. The white wood ceremony pieces filled with fresh floral kept the space feeling soft, airy and light against the rustic wooden barn. Touches of blue floral were the perfect amount of color that we wanted to include. Vineyard chairs from Detailz framed the harvest tablescape – allowing the centerpieces to cascade beautifully over soft blue linens. Additional white pillar candles (Helix Candles) provided an extra touch of vineyard elegance. Paper Damsels provided us with beautiful custom invitations including a hand drawn map of the property. They perfectly set the tone for the neutral color palette with pops of dusty blue carried forth within all other stationary designs. Amanda Foong Cakes designed the most beautiful partially naked cake touched with fresh floral. It was the main feature of the sweet table with surrounding mini cakes, cannolis and doughnuts. Personalized mini cakes for each guest were set on the tablescape as well. Two looks, by Valencienne, including a soft blue tule-skirt and matching top with a lace overlay were the perfect combination against the fresh cascading bouquet. Other details include delicate boutonnieres, individual scripted menus, a handwritten welcome sign draped with greenery (Pear, Tree & Clover), vintage silver trays (Glamorous Affairs), a custom engagement ring (Alexis Gallery) and wrapped blankets meant as guest favors for a crisp evening. 10tation curated a beautiful display of canapes, including a cheese board that was fitting to a rustic approach. Blynda Dacosta Photography captured every single detail exquisitely.

Reasons To Hire A Wedding Planner

We’re firm believers that hiring a wedding planner is a priceless investment into your day. You and your loved ones should be able to enjoy your planning process stress-free while maintaining your everyday life. It’s beneficial to have someone lead you through all the steps of planning to ensure your day runs smoothly – this way, you can enjoy every moment. If you’re on the fence about hiring a wedding planner and wondering if it’s the right decision for you, read on…

Stay Organized
It may seem impossible to keep track of all decisions, meetings, budgets and bookings. With the help of a planner, they will assist with keeping you organized. Using checklists, meeting reminders, budget spreadsheets, and other planning tools, you’ll never forget a meeting and you can easily keep track of what’s been done – and what is left to do!

Spend Wisely
There are a few ways a wedding planner can help you spend a little smarter. First, they will help you avoid costly mistakes. Second, many planners have relationships with vendors and can provide you with preferred rates. Finally, your planner should assist with budgeting. Budgeting allows you to allocate funds in the right areas based on your wedding vision. Since it’s very easy to lose track and go above and beyond what you had anticipated financially, budgeting allows you to allocate funds in the right areas based on your wedding vision and your planner will ensure you’re staying on target.

Enjoy Your Day & Alleviate Stress
This is one of the most important reasons by far. Your planner is your go-to person on the day of the event – they answer questions and make decisions on your behalf. If a problem arises they will handle it inconspicuously, without worrying you or causing you or a family or friend the unnecessary stress. A good planner will solve day-of issues with patience and a sense of calmness. It is important for you, your significant other, friends and family to enjoy the day and with a planner, you can relax knowing everything is under control.

Stick To The Timeline
A lot of work, effort and time goes into planning your day – so, you want to ensure the day flows without a hitch. Your planner will assist you with creating a timeline and ensure that it is executed on the big day. Your planner will confirm that all vendors arrive on time for setup, they will cue your ceremony, speeches and any other important moments. You can rest assured that the day will be properly timed and coordinated.

Vendor Recommendations
You don’t want to spend hours finding vendors, or waste time at initial meetings if the vendor is not the right fit. There are hundreds of suppliers in the wedding industry and it takes many to create a successful event. This process can easily feel overwhelming with the many available options. Your planner can assist by providing vendor recommendations of companies they trust and have worked with before that they know will fit your style and budget. Ultimately vendor recommendations from your planner saves you time and ultimately saves you the worry of knowing if you’ve made the right choices.

Guests Are Taken Care Of
You can trust that your guests will be taken care of and are comfortable. Guests often have questions that a planner can answer: ‘Where’s the washroom?  Where can I leave my gift? I forgot to request a vegetarian option for dinner – can you help?’. Every planner should also carry an emergency kit for you, your bridal party and for guests. In the case that someone needs a band-aid, an antacid, or a Kleenex (to wipe away the happy tears) – your planner has this covered.

Making Your Vision A Reality
From your initial consultation, through design meetings, to the very end of your wedding day – your planner will assist with bringing your vision to life. They are familiar with the latest trends, colors and can visualize how to make the best out of your chosen venue. A planner will assist with making your wedding a consistent and cohesive style, look and mood while infusing your own personalities, styles, and taste. Sometimes you know exactly what you want – without knowing how to execute it; your planner will help you with design decisions to ensure your visions become a beautiful reality for you and your guests.

They’ve Done It Before!
It’s as simple as that…they’ve done it before. They know what works, what doesn’t – experience is key and they are familiar with planning successful events!

Don’t forget: When hiring a wedding planner – be sure to find the one that is the right fit for you. Your planner must be someone you can fully trust to guide you throughout your planning experience. If you’re interested in setting up a time to meet with a Laura & Co. Happy Planning!

THANK YOU

We want to say a big THANK YOU to 2016! It has been a magical year for us. We were lucky to have executed many beautiful, successful events with some very special couples and clients. We have received a tremendous amount of love over social media – which has been a continued push for us to create, inspire and share our daily work and designs.  With a handful of style shoots and MANY weddings taking up most of our time, we’re very excited to begin blogging again – it’s been a while! This year we will post bi-weekly content, providing you with everything from planning tips, weddings, events and style shoots. Our goal is to provide inspiration for you to use towards planning your event, and of course – if you need an extra hand along the way, we’re always here to help!
We’re looking forward to another amazing year!

Welcome to Our New Website!

Well this one has been a long time coming… Welcome to our new site!

This one has been a labour of love over the past… wait for it… 2 years.

It’s no secret in the Events Industry that you can easily end up married to your work. Each and every week, another couple or two (yes our team can do more than 1 event per weekend) is about to embark on the most anticipated 24 hours of their lives and they’ve chosen us, Laura & Co. Planners to help make the once in a lifetime moment nothing short of fabulous. This is a job we don’t take lightly. Being the person everyone can count is an honour and putting so much of ourselves into what we do, means at times, our behind the scenes business operations take a back seat… Or let’s be honest, those “TO DO’s” don’t even get a seat on the bus!

This past winter we vowed to get this new site done… With the help of our talented friends at 5ive15teen Photo Company, Event Graffiti, Rachel Clingen Wedding & Event Design, Glamorous Occasions and Bene Pham Beauty we got ourselves a fresh new look.

We worked diligently (well that might be a stretch) with our awesome Web Designers Camwood Media to ensure July 1st was the day this site and our new blog would be ready to rock… We may have missed our July 1st launch, but are happy to say, we took the time to get this one just right!

Our Blog over the next few years, will be a labour of love, a place for our team to share our most recent events and inspirations. We look forward to this next chapter together!

Much Love,

Laura, Ellie, Thyra, Filomena & Baye
xoxo
